Crest Link – S.S.P. Chawrasia reigns again at Hero Indian Open, giving the 2nd European title to the brand

March 12, 2017 – New Zealand’s Michael Campbell may be Crest Link‘s most popular ambassador, thanks to the Open USA he won in 2005 at Pinehurst , but the Hindu S.S.P. Chawrasia is clearly the second, as winner of the 2016 and now the 2017 Hero Indian Open, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian Tour. S.S.P. Chawrasia made European Tour history as he blew away the rest of the field to successfully defend his title of last year. The home favourite started the day in a share of the lead at DLF Golf & Country Club in New Delhi but had moved two shots ahead when the third round of the weather-delayed tournament was completed on Sunday morning.

He did not look back in round four, signing for a 71 and sealing a season-high equalling seven-shot win over Malaysia’s Gavin Green. The victory continued his remarkable record at his national Open where he was runner-up four times before finally triumphing last season.

“I’m winning back-to-back so I’m really very happy,” S.S.P. Chawrasia said. “I learned many things this week and hopefully I can play better in Europe. That’s my target next, I have to win in Europe… This is probably my best win of my career as it was a really tough course. This week, I made less mistakes and others made more mistakes.”
