What was MINIM’s main vision when tackling the interior design project for this Casa Maury-Par\u00e9s home?<\/h2>\n

For us, it was very important to deeply understand this historic space, capture the essence of the project, and create comfortable environments committed to contemporary design, while enhancing the brightness and warmth of the space.<\/p>\n

Casa Maury-Par\u00e9s is situated in a strategic point of the city. What do you enjoy most about the Eixample district of Barcelona?<\/h2>\n

The Eixample invites you to stroll, enjoy its cultural activities (art galleries, museums), gastronomy, and also shopping in its small and large stores.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your best-kept secret to enjoying Barcelona like a local?<\/h2>\n

I think there are two secrets to fully enjoying the city. One is to look up because Barcelona is a city built vertically; it\u2019s always a pleasure to appreciate its balconies and fa\u00e7ades, sometimes simple and other times filled with ornate details. The second secret, without a doubt, is to go to the sea and turn around to see the city, taking in how Barcelona grows towards its mountains like Montju\u00efc, Tibidabo, and Horta.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

If you could decorate the home of a famous movie character, who would you choose and how would it look?<\/h2>\n

That\u2019s a tough question! In good films, the spaces are already very well thought out and set to serve the story they tell, so it\u2019s hard to improve on anything. Perhaps, to mention an example, I would brighten up the house in The Godfather, though it would be less unsettling… and undoubtedly a worse movie (hahaha)!

What\u2019s the first thing you notice when you enter a home for the first time?<\/h2>\n

The smell and the light are the first impressions I focus on before considering the spaces. Then the rational part kicks in, and I scan the layout.<\/p>\n

If we were invited to your home, what\u2019s the one piece you value most, and why?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s hard to choose just one, but I might go with the Parentesi lamp by Achille Castiglioni. It\u2019s simple, mobile, allows for intense or dim lighting, offers direct and indirect light… It\u2019s a perfect object. In fact, I think anyone could live in an empty space with only this lamp as the essential item.

One item everyone should have in their home.<\/h2>\n

A good reading lamp.<\/p>\n

A restaurant in Barcelona.<\/h2>\n

There are so many… I love Dos Pebrots for its incredible combination of tradition and contemporary cuisine, and a classic spot in Barceloneta, La Cova Fumada. It\u2019s simple, with its fishing boat and grandmothers at the stove.<\/p>\n

A book you can recommend.<\/h2>\n

The Unfinished Palazzo by Judith Mackrell. It tells three stories about three extraordinary women\u2014Luisa Casati, Doris Castlerosse, and Peggy Guggenheim\u2014 connected to this Venetian palace.<\/p>\n

A city to discover.<\/h2>\n

Precisely that hidden, nostalgic, and decadent Venice, which is also so full of life.<\/p>\n
