On April 5, 2025, Arriondas will once again be the epicenter of stand-up paddle with the new edition of the SPS SELLA SUP RIVER RACE<\/strong>. As every year, SPS reaffirms its commitment to this exciting competition, consolidating its role as the main sponsor.<\/p>\n

A landmark course<\/h3>\n
This event, considered the most important SUP whitewater race in Spain, will bring together dozens of paddlers in a 15-kilometer<\/strong> challenge that will connect the Emilio Llamedo bridge in Arriondas with the San Rom\u00e1n bridge. A unique opportunity to experience the thrill of the Sella descent from a paddleboard.<\/p>\n
Disciplines and categories<\/h3>\n
The SPS SELLA SUP RIVER RACE 2025 will feature various disciplines:<\/p>\n
\n
S1 – Individual:<\/strong> One paddler per board.<\/li>\n
S2 – Tandem:<\/strong> Two paddlers per board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This year, the S4<\/strong> group category will not be available.<\/p>\n
Regarding categories, only the 14\u2019 category for S1<\/strong> is considered, while the S2 category will have no board restrictions.<\/p>\n
Rules and safety measures<\/h3>\n
To ensure participants’ safety, the organization sets the following rules:<\/p>\n
\n
Minimum age:<\/strong> 16 years old on the day of the event, with parental consent if underage.<\/li>\n
Mandatory:<\/strong> Life jacket use.<\/li>\n
Optional:<\/strong> Leash use, always tied around the waist, never the ankle or knee.<\/li>\n
Maximum time:<\/strong> 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the race.<\/li>\n
Timing:<\/strong> Official, manually timed by judges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Start format<\/h3>\n
The start will follow the traditional Sella format<\/strong>, with the following order:<\/p>\n
\n
Winners of previous editions<\/strong> (from the most recent to the oldest).<\/li>\n
Paddlers according to their position in the previous edition<\/strong>, as long as they completed registration on time.<\/li>\n
The rest of the participants in order of registration.<\/strong><\/li>\n
S2 category:<\/strong> Will start according to the same criteria as S1.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
