Chawrasia<\/strong>, ambassador of <strong>Crest Link<\/strong> golf apparel, has won the prestigious <strong>Arjuna Award<\/strong> for his contribution towards golf in India through his success on the <strong>Asian Tour, European Tour<\/strong> and <strong>Professional Golf Tour of India<\/strong> (PGTI).<\/p>\n<p>Chawrasia\u2019s name was recommended by a selection panel appointed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Government of India before he was awarded with the prestigious accolade.<\/p>\n<p>The Kolkata-based golfer, currently ranked <strong>second on the Asian Tour Order of Merit<\/strong>, will receive the award from the President of India in a ceremony to be conducted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President\u2019s House) in New Delhi on August 29.<\/p>\n<p>Chawrasia is one of the most successful stories to emerge from the Asian Tour. From a son of a greenkeeper, he rose through the ranks to win six Asian Tour titles including back-to-back <strong>Hero Indian Open<\/strong> victories in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygolfway.com\/en\/crest-link-s-s-p-chawrasia-brings-the-first-win-for-the-brand-on-the-european-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>2016<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygolfway.com\/en\/crest-link-s-s-p-chawrasia-reigns-again-at-hero-indian-open-giving-the-2nd-european-title-to-the-brand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>2017<\/strong><\/a>, where he was runner-up four times before.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016, he won his first title outside of India when he emerged victorious at the <strong>Resorts World Manila Masters<\/strong>. In that same year, he also represented his his country in the <strong>Olympics in Rio de Janeiro<\/strong> and the <strong>World Cup of Golf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI had dreamt of winning the Arjuna since childhood even before I started playing golf. My inspiration to win the award was famous Kolkata golfer Mr. SK Jamshed who won the Arjuna back in 1975. I still have a picture of his with the award at my home,\u201d<\/em> said an elated <strong>Chawrasia<\/strong> to PGTI.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFinally my dream has come true. The Arjuna Award is something that every Indian sportsperson craves for. It\u2019s a true recognition of my achievements. This award will give me a lot of confidence for the battles ahead.
