It’s one of the most common questions in the game and the answer is more personal than you might think.<\/p>\n WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BLADE AND A MALLET PUTTER?<\/strong><\/p>\n The most obvious difference is shape. A blade putter<\/strong> is compact and traditional \u2014 a narrow head with a simple profile at address. A mallet putter<\/strong> features a larger, more geometric head, often with alignment aids built into the design.<\/p>\n But the real difference goes deep than looks. It comes dow to how each putter is engineered, and more importantly, how each one interacts with your natural putting stroke.<\/p>\n UNDERSTANDING YOUR PUTTING STROKE<\/strong><\/p>\n Before you can choose the right putter, you need to understand how you naturally move the club.<\/p>\n Arc strokes<\/strong> open and close through the swing \u2014 the face rotates slight back and through, much like a door on a hinge. If you draw a line tracing your stroke, it looks like a gentle curve.<\/p>\n Straight-back, straight-through strokes<\/strong> do exactly what the name says. The putter move on a more linear path with minimal face rotation.<\/p>\n Neither is better than the other.
