\"\"<\/a>June 28, 2013 –<\/strong> It\u2019s been a leader in the wedge category for over 30 years and is still at the top in 2013. Working on the base of its popular 588 Series, which worked very well, Cleveland Golf<\/a><\/strong>‘s has made improvements and offers us new models which outperform the previous ones. These are the 588 RTX Bladed, 588 RTX CB <\/strong>and 588 Forged RTG<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

To test it we have analyzed one of them, the Cleveland 588 RTX CB Black Pearl<\/strong>, black in colour, with a cavity back and the new ROTEX face technology.<\/p>\n

Cleveland explains that the ROTEX face is a directionally milled pattern which gives greater roughness and durability to the face.\u00a0This is a dimensionally optimized surface for even more friction at the moment of impact. The U-Groves, developed in collaboration with Tour players, are more precise and 16% larger in order to maximise the spin on critical scoring shots, especially out of the rough or the bunker, and in wet conditions.<\/p>\n

\"Wedge<\/a>The cavity back of the 588 RTX CB is well resolved. It distributes more weighting towards the perimeter and along the sole to increase the forgiveness on off-centre hits. And finally, a reverse C sole, with a constant width throughout its length, is combined with heel and toe grinds to improve performance from the bunkers or the deep rough.<\/p>\n

Carlos Vivas<\/strong>, professional of Sant Cugat CG<\/strong> (Barcelona, Spain) and Technical Director of the Junior Golf Academy by Paula Marti & Carlos Vivas<\/a><\/strong>, is the player who gives us his verdict on this modern short game tool. With a RTX 588 CB Black Pearl of 52\u00b0 loft and 10\u00ba bounce he hit a few balls from 50 metres, and then 5 metres to the green, leaving them in a radius of two meters around the pin.<\/p>\n
