12/12/2024

Renowned musician and conductor Jordi Savall returns to his musical roots with the Fantasies, Battles & Dances: The Golden Age of European Consort Music 1550-1750 tour, revisiting his profound connection to the viola da gamba through a classic program he hasn’t performed in some time. This tour is a journey into the Golden Age of European consort music, exploring the splendour of Renaissance and Baroque music from 1550 to 1750.

Performing on the treble viola da gamba and directing the ensemble, Savall is joined on stage by a select group of exceptional musicians: Christophe Coin, Anna Lachegyi, Lixsania Fernández, Philippe Pierlot, and Filipa Meneses (viols), Xavier Díaz-Latorre (theorbo and guitar), and percussionists Daniel Garay (Dublin) and David Mayoral (London, Paris, and Lisbon).

The Fantaisies, Batailles & Danses program pays tribute to the intricate and elegant sound of the viola da gamba, an instrument that has been a fundamental part of Jordi Savall’s repertoire throughout his career.

The tour has generated great excitement, with all seats sold out in Dublin, London, and Lisbon. A few tickets remain for the Paris concert, offering one of the last opportunities to experience this extraordinary program live. The scheduled tour dates are:

  • December 17: Dublin (Ireland) – White Recital Hall
  • December 18 & 19: London (England) – Wigmore Hall
  • December 20: Paris (France) – Salle Gaveau
  • December 22: Lisbon (Portugal) – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian

With this tour, Jordi Savall returns to his musical roots, bringing back the spirit and passion that have defined him as a pioneer in early music. A must-see event for Baroque music lovers and anyone seeking to travel back to the Europe of courtly elegance.
