Artists Alia Vox Diversa

2015

ALIA VOX DIVERSA is the newest collection on our label. After eighteen years, and with more than 100 albums edited between Jordi Savall, Montserrat Figueras, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, and Hespèrion XXI, in 2015 Diversa was born to introduce unpublished recordings by talented musicians and ensembles, chosen for the interest of their work, the relevance of their repertoire, and the originality of their proposals. It will allow us to discover the music produced by musicians who, having collaborated with us for many years, will now showcase their own performances.

Born in Bilbao, Enrike Solinís studied Guitar and Ancient Music at the Conservatorio J. C. Arriaga in Bilbao and at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, respectively. He also obtained a cum laude postgraduate diploma in Concert Performance under maestro José Tomás, and has won numerous prizes at International guitar competitions (Comillas, Ataúlfo Argenta, Andrés Segovia, among others).

Considered one of the most original and outstanding virtuosos of his generation, he regularly appears at the major international festivals and concert venues of Europe and America. He has worked with prestigious ensembles such as Hesperion XXI, Le Concert de Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya under the direction of Jordi Savall, and Concerto Vocale and Akademie für Alte Musik under the direction of René Jacobs, etc.

As the founder and director of the group Euskal Barrokensemble, in 2013 he released his first album, Colores del Sur, baroque dances for guitar (Glossa Music), to which Leo Brouwer dedicated the following introduction:

“I first heard the young maestro Enrike Solinís when he was accompanying the great Jordi Savall; some years later, now with his own ensemble, he impressed me again – this time as a soloist. The selection of musical pieces which he is offering here is an enormously attractive one; even more so when well-known works reveal a freshness absent in other more routine performances. Solinís provides masterful interpretations of music by Gaspar Sanz, Murcia, Kapsberger and Scarlatti, all flawlessly executed. I believe that this recording is a faithful reflection of the richness of Enrike Solinís’s ideas, and my conclusion is a simple one: a broad culture, which consists of listening to everything, reading and looking at everything. In that such a musical profile is not common, they should be listened to attentively and with delight. Let us hear them!”

The group’s second disc, released by Alia Vox in 2015, Euskel Antiqva, le legs musical du Pays Basque-Legacy of the Land of Basque, was the culmination of a long process of research and gathering material, a project which explores the musical and literary legacy of Euskal Herria.

Euskal Barrokensemble has achieved international recognition, being acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. The ensemble has taken part in Jota (2016), the latest film by director Carlos Saura, and regularly performs at international festivals and concert halls such as the Kontzerhaus in Vienna, the Potsdam Festival, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Hamburg Festival, the Havana Festival, Montreal, Prague, Stockholm, Poland, etc.
